Services - Training

Administrator Training

This course focuses on the administration and customization features of VisionFM Enterprise. Attendees are typically planning to customization VisionFM or are supporting 5 or more full time VisionFM users.

Highlights

This two-day, hands-on course takes attendees through the architecture and basic installation of the components of VisionFM Enterprise. Attendees will be introduced to the database structure, administration features and customization tools. Our expert instructors will guide the students through the learning process by lecture, real time examples and student worked labs.

Topics covered include:

Installation

  • Client / Server installation
  • Web Server installation
  • Event Notification Server (ENS) installation

Administration

  • Setting up new users
  • Security
  • Installing live-update patches

Customization

  • VisionFM functions in Visual Basic script
  • Customizing forms with VisionFM Forms Designer
  • Customizing reports with Crystal Reports
  • Customizing ENS events with Visual Basic script

Throughout this two-day course the attendees computer skills will be put to the test.  Attendees will be installing applications and working with windows security to set up server and client workstations.  They will work with several software packages including Crystal Reports and script editors. Attendees will also be editing VisionFM functions with Visual Basic script.  The student will leave this two-day course ready to return and begin administration of VisionFM Enterprise and with knowledge of customization features.

Recommended prerequisites:

  • Introduction to VisionFM training course
  • A working knowledge of windows security rights and the principles of networking
  • Experience with Visual Basic script
  • Experience with Microsoft Internet Information Server

Training Site Requirements:

  • Crystal Reports and Microsoft Interdev (or Microsoft Script Debugger) installed and configured on each student system.
  • VisionFM Enterprise comes with Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine. If the attendees will be working with a full version of Microsoft SQL or Oracle is should also be loaded on each workstation.
  • One Windows 2000 or 2003 (with IIS) workstation per student. We recommend a maximum of six attendees per class.
  • VisionFM installation CD(s) for the applications the administrators will be supporting.
  • The training room should have a whiteboard or an easel.
  • All workstations will be required to perform multiple re-boots during this class.

End-User Training

This course focuses on the operation of VisionFM's modules and its link to AutoCAD.  Attendees are drafts-people, managers and VisionFM power users. For users who will only have access to specific modules (for example; call center operators) a custom course is recommended.

Highlights

The first day of this course is for anyone who will be working in VisionFM on a regular basis.  Attendees will work with drawing and database information, create queries and gain a thorough understanding of the VisionFM interface and application modules.

The second day takes drafts-people through VisionFM's architectural commands within AutoCAD.  The course focuses on the drawings interaction with the database, the administration of data driven drawings and the customization of VisionFM commands to meet your existing drafting standards.

Our expert instructors will guide the students through the learning process by lecture, real time examples and student worked labs.

  • Creating queries
  • Working with the drawing viewer

VisionFM modules

  • CAFM - Space and Asset modules
  • CMMS - Call Center and Preventative Maintenance modules
  • FIMS - Budget, Lease and Project modules

  • Creating space in drawings
  • Tracking assets in drawings
  • Setting VisionFM preferences to work with your cad drawings

Recommended prerequisites:

  • Attendees should be familiar with standard windows program functions such as drag-and-drop, cut-and-paste, and browsing the windows file directory.
  • Attendees for the second day will require a working knowledge of AutoCAD

Training Site Requirements

  • One Windows workstation per student. We recommend a maximum of six attendees per class.
  • VisionFM Enterprise or StandAlone installed on each workstation.
  • AutoCAD installed on each workstation. VisionFM supports versions 2000 through 2006.
  • The training room should have a whiteboard or an easel.
