Create an Inventory of Space with AutoCAD Drawings

Space information is the foundation of an integrated workplace management system (IWMS). Defining space starts with real estate, where buildings are organized by property and region. Within a building, accurate floor and room areas are recorded using VisionFM's live connection with CAD drawings.

VisionFM does not import AutoCAD files; they stay in their native .DWG file format so you can continue to share drawings with architects and interior designers. While working in AutoCAD, any changes that take place in the drawings are automatically updated in the database. VisionFM also stores a copy of the drawing in the database, allowing users to work with drawings in VisionFM's robust drawing viewer.

Once space information is created, users can assign room functions, departments and employees to generate rentable/usable ratios and space chargeback reports. User definable options fields can also be added to track additional information such as room finishes or services.

The space information becomes the foundation for the other modules. For example: an employee filling in a work request will have their department room location filled in automatically, operating costs can be summarized by chargeable square foot, and assets placed in a room will automatically be assigned to the employee and department occupying the room.

• VisionFM turns AutoCAD into facilities design software by adding architectural drafting features for doors, walls, windows, ceiling grids and standard symbol libraries.
• VisionFM works with AutoCAD 2004 through 2011 and AutoCAD LT 2004 through 2011.
• VisionFM includes a default layer list and symbols library but is also easily adjustable to your drafting standards.

• Establish space standards to perform fast space planning in AutoCAD.
• Track large areas of space such as leased or retail areas, or define space to the workstation level.
• Group space by zones to specify leased areas, cleaning zones, electrical zones, etc.
• Track vacant space.
