Room information is the foundation of a facilities management system. Whether you are managing employee assignments, assets, departments or projects, the information is associated to a location. Reports and spreadsheets can provide a lot of detail, but the easiest way to summarize and communicate that information is in a drawing. VisionFM's drawing viewer present your drawings overlaid with text and highlighting from the database, presenting users with the up to date information each time they view a drawing.

At Vision we wanted to use drawings for more than just the presentation of facility information, we make your drawings interactive with data entry forms and spreadsheets to allow users to find and edit information quickly.

Easy Administration

VisionFM's drawing viewer adapts to your AutoCAD drafting standards. In VisionFM you define the layers and blocks you are using in your drawings. From that point on, whenever you save an AutoCAD drawing, the viewer in VisionFM is automatically updated. No drawing management or document uploading is required.

As the administrator, you can group together layers, text and highlighting into a View. The drawing viewer presents the user with a list of available drawing views. When one is selected, the drawing is displayed, text is updated and the rooms are highlighted based on the latest database information. This way your drawings are always up to date.

Interactive Drawings

Highlighting allows users to see color coded floorplans based on information assigned to each room. For example: by assigning a color to each department, a floorplan can highlight each room to show assigned space. Colors can also be associated to room functions, employee titles, leases and projects.

When a drawing view is selected, the viewer presents a legend which displays the title associated to each color and a summary of the area in the drawing.

Text in the drawings is automatically updated with information from the database each time the drawings are displayed. Your drawings will always display the latest employee and department information without having to update the original AutoCAD drawing.

Drawing Makes Data Entry Easier

The VisionFM drawing viewer is interactive with forms. Displaying an asset or location in a form allows the user to view the location in a drawing. Users can also click on rooms and assets in a drawing to open an edit form.

For example: use the drawing viewer to highlight occupied and vacant offices, then quickly select 'to' and 'from' locations for move orders by clicking on rooms in the drawing.

Easily Make Your Drawings Available to Others

The administrator can control the floor plans and site plans that are available to each user. Also controlled through user rights is the view available, so a project manager can look at areas under construction while a move manager can look at the same drawing and see upcoming employee relocations.

The drawing viewer is also available through the VisionFM web client, allowing your interactive drawings to be made available to anyone you choose.
